Job Title: Social
Media/PR Intern (unpaid)

Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum
Reports To: The
Director of Research & Collections
About the Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum
(MCLM): MCLM is the largest
independently-held collection of objects, documents and memorabilia on African
American history and culture. MCLM's primary goal is to collect, preserve,
exhibit and celebrate the unique history and cultural heritage of Americans of
African descent and thereby to help provide a more complete view of American
history. As our founder, Mayme A. Clayton, said “To know where you’re
going, you have to know where you’ve been.”
We are seeking a savvy,
motivated, and knowledgeable intern to maintain MCLM’s social media. MCLM currently
maintains a Facebook, Twitter, Eventful, Blogger and Flickr accounts.
During your tenure you will manage the following
social media platforms:
Facebook: Managing
status updates and postings; liking relevant pages; attracting new likes
Twitter: Tweeting and
actively gaining followers
Flickr: Create and
manage account for posting photographs
Eventful: Create and
manage account for posting content
Desirable applicants will have the following:
- Must be very well organized with excellent attention to detail.
- An interest and understanding of African American history and/or United States Political history
- Undergraduate education: working towards a BA, BS.
- The ability to work and collaborate with staff to develop social media initiatives.
- Superior written oral & written communication
Start: July 5, 2012 possible college credit if applicable to
your university
